Cizhou Kiln derives its name from Cizhou, a place called in ancient times. Since it began to fire in Northern Dynasties, it continues to produce porcelains through Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, Qing and even until today, which shows the strong vitality of Cizhou Kiln. It is a brilliant representative of the civilian kiln in Song dynasty and also the largest system of civilian kiln in northern China. The products of Cizhou Kiln enjoyed a widespread distribution and are influential. Cizhou Kiln was one of the six major kiln types in Song, Jin and Yuan dynasties. Up to now, it still belongs to one of the eight porcelain production areas in China.
